Last week at the Farragut Municipal Planning Commission meeting Chairman Robert Hill announced that Knoxville had been listed by Forbes magazine as the 17th best place in the nation to do business.

The magazine list, as it appeared on the City of Knoxville Web site, also listed Nashville at 43, Johnson City at 64, Memphis at 119 and Chattanooga at 122.

The attraction was the Knoxville-Oak Ridge Innovation Valley, which covers a large portion of East Tennessee according to the KOIV Web site.

The criteria for ranking includes: engineers, cost of doing business, cost of living, crime rate, culture and leisure, educational attainment, income growth, job growth and net migration resulting in an overall ranking.

Also on the Web site is a search engine for businesses to find available property for sale or lease in which to conduct business.

A quick search of the 37922 ZIP Code reveals no property within the town of Farragut.

Property all office space appears at Hayfield, North Peters, I-40/75 and Lakeshore at Pellissippi Parkway, all in Knoxville.

So, exactly where does Farragut rank as a place to do business?
