Weather prompts Bob Watt ‘Fishing Rodeo’ to reschedule

Saturday afternoon’s thunderstorms that forced the cancellation of the 21st Annual Bob Watt Youth Fishing Rodeo may have put a temporary damper on the popular town event, but organizers have already rescheduled and look forward to a sunny, fish-filled day at Farragut’s Anchor Park.

Mark your calendars to take your children, ages 15 and under, to the rodeo rescheduled for Saturday, June 11. Times for the event remain the same. Registration is 4 to 5 p.m. Fishing is 5 to 7 p.m. Arrive early; this year, the first 150 children to register will receive a free T-shirt.

Fishers will compete in various categories, and prizes will be awarded.

The town of Farragut will provide the bait; any type may be used. For children who do not own a fishing pole, poles that can be used during the event will be on hand as well as fishing advice from veteran volunteers of the event.

Free hot dogs and lemonade also will be provided.

The rodeo is free and open to the public.

Anchor Park is located at 11730 Turkey Creek Road.

Event sponsors include farragutpress, Lovell Heights Barber Shop, Strike King Lure Co. and the town of Farragut.

For more information, call Jason Wright at 966-7057.

In case of inclement weather, call 966-2420 for the status of the event.
