Fox Run resident shocked by FBMA

I was shocked and dismayed by the recent Farragut Board of Mayor and Aldermen decision to authorize a three-way stop at Smith and Hickory Woods roads!

Weren’t they paying attention when the town engineer explained all of the problems associated with various “traffic-calming devices?”

Everybody knows that three-way stop intersections generate more traffic problems than they solve. Likewise, everyone knows that speed bumps really don’t work (except on Knox County emergency vehicles, which are apparently lower to the ground than similar vehicles in Tennessee and the rest of the country).

Doesn’t the FBMA know that nothing will ever change the way Knoxville drivers operate their motor vehicles, i.e., as fast as they can go while talking on a cell phone? After all, roads were built for motor vehicles, not pedestrians, bicycles or baby strollers!

How dare concerned citizens and city officials try to place restrictions on our inalienable right to drive anyway we want! The nerve of some people!

P.S. If there are any extra traffic-calming devices available, my subdivision could use a few.

J.W. Ewing,

Fox Run
