Dickenson leads way among BHS banquet hoop honorees


Senior guard and recent Bearden High School graduate Paul Dickenson led the way in honors for the boys varsity team during the recent BHS basketball banquet. Finishing the season as the team leader in assists and drawing charges while ranking No. 2 in steals, forced turnovers, three-point shooting percentage and free throw percentage, Dickenson was named team Most Valuable Player (Hopkins-Pardue Award), and also won the Stoval-Slagle Award (Mr. Clutch).

He also finished No. 3 in school history in three-point baskets made for a career at 132 and was the team's No. 3 scorer in 2004-05.

Other awardees: Phillips Award to Nathan England, team leader in rebound and field goal percentage; Metz-Atkinson Award to Josh Mathys, team leader in three-point percentage, and Karnes-Oliver Award to Tony White Jr., leading scorer.

Rande Sibley was recognized for breaking school records for single-game three-point shots made (9), and season three-pointers (94).

These young men helped the 2004-05 Bulldogs win the District 4-AAA Tournament and finish with a 23-11 record.
