Knox County school space for rent?

Though Farragut’s Two Rivers Church recently broke ground on a church to call its own, its congregation has made Farragut High School its regular place of worship each Sunday for several years. Can such “rental” income be expanded upon throughout the Knox County Schools System, “renting out” other elementary, middle and high school gyms and theaters for a much needed cash infusion? Could it really make a difference? If so, what limits should be placed upon churches and other groups and organizations wishing to shell out cash to the school system for operating space? As for religion, is such use of school property a violation of the separation of church and state? Could it be a legal risk to the county? Call and tell us what you think at 671-8255 (671-TALK).
