WUCP to be FHS radio sports home for '05-06

Farragut High School sports have a radio home for the 2005-06 school year. WUCP 106.1 announces it will carry all of the FHS football games, both home and away, during the 2005 season to highlight its Admiral sports coverage.

Dennis Rowan will handle play-by-play and Eric Patterson will add color commentary.

New for this season, according to Patterson, is a coaches show with FHS head coach Eddie Courtney after every game, as the Admiral skipper will analyze the game just played and then touch on the upcoming game. It will be a 10 to 15 minute program.

Also new is a rebroadcast of the games each Saturday from 9 to 11:30 a.m. “This will give the players and parents a chance to listen to the game the next morning,” Patterson said.

As for backing, “We are looking for sponsors for the games and for the coaches’ show,” Patterson said. “The sponsorship spots will be played both on Friday night and Saturday during the replay and a thank you recognizing the sponsors will broadcast throughout the week.”

Patterson adds that WUCP is “going to move forward with the Farragut baseball team as well. We broadcast nine regular season games and the playoff games with the help of the Dugout Club last year and we will be on board for ten to twelve regular season games and all the playoff games next year.”

As for basketball coverage, “We are hoping to do some basketball and we are trying to work that out,” Patterson said.
