With Knox County Board of Education and Knox County Commission looking under desks and behind auditorium curtains for items and programs to cut from the Schools System budget, such cuts as field trips in lower grades and driver’s education at the high school level have been proposed to date. What do you think represents “fatter” parts of the budget that could be cut, or at least significantly trimmed, from the Schools System budget? Are field trips vital? Are 15- and 16-year-olds really learning vital driving mechanics and safety tips in Driver’s Education? Could high school sports budgets be trimmed in areas such as assistant coach pay? Call and tell us what you think at 671-TALK (8255).
