• The Knoxville chapter of the American Marketing Association is hosting a reception for current and prospective members from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 23, at Gettysvue Country Club, located at 9317 Linksvue Drive. The annual member reception typically is open to members only. But this year KAMA is opening the event to those interested in learning about the benefits of KAMA membership. • The Tennessee Small Business Development Center Knoxville Area Chamber Partnership office will conduct a business plan writing workshop from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday, Aug. 22, at the Chamber Partnership, 17 Market Square, no. 201. Topics include sections of a business plan, information that should be included for each section, and how to gather the information and compile it for your own business plan. • Scripps Networks was recognized by the State of Tennessee’s Association for Persons in Supported Employment for participating in the association’s "Together We Can Make a Difference" program. "Together We Can Make a Difference," an employment and career services program, honors businesses that employ a diversified workforce. Scripps Networks employs a disabled employee who assists on development projects. During his time with Scripps Networks, he has worked on a variety of computer software and written a best practices manual on his tasks.
