Application process for new

The Knox County Public School System will begin providing Pre-Kindergarten classes in late September that will serve students in Knox County who may not be fully prepared to enter kindergarten.

The Pre-K program, made possible through grant funding from the State of Tennessee and the Great Schools Partnership, will serve about 150 students at 10 locations around Knox County.

The program is designed to be county-wide, and it will serve students who will be four years old prior to Sept. 30, 2005. While most of the classrooms are located in current elementary schools, students do not have to live in a particular school zone to apply for class at that school location. Parents do not have to apply at the site they wish their child to attend. Application for all sites may be made at any of the eight sites where applications can be completed.

Parents can complete applications from 9 to 11 a.m. or 4 to 6 p.m. at any one of the following locations on the dates listed: Aug. 29: Norwood Elementary School and Karns Elementary School; Aug. 30:Mooreland Heights Elementary School, West View Elementary School and Sunnyview Primary School; Aug. 31: East Knox County Elementary School; Sept. 1: Sarah Moore Greene Magnet Technology Academy, Fort Sanders Educational Development Center.
