Victory at Bearden zooms FHS grid freshman to 3-0

A 34-yard screen pass touchdown from Justin Schoonmaker to Alex Encarnacion was all the scoring needed for the Farragut High School freshman football team to beat arch-rival Bearden and stay unbeaten.

The Admirals' 7-0 win at BHS Monday, Sept. 12, improved the freshmen team's record to 3-0 entering the week while completing the team's third consecutive shutout, outscoring its opponents 46-0 this season.

Schoonmaker also completed a key third-and-eight pass to Sam Watson on the scoring drive, a 71-yard march early in the third quarter.

Watson caught three passes for 55 yards, while Schoonmaker was 5-of-9 passing for 96 yards. Farragut's leading rushers were Aaron Hinkle and Moncer Al-Hussein.

Defensively, Jonathan Moskal and Dane Lovell each had an interception. Leading tacklers were Encarnacion with six and Austin Bolen and J.T. Doucette with four apiece.

The FHS freshmen football program has now won 11 straight games dating back to last season.
