FHS girls 3rd, BHS boys 7th in multi-state cross country

NASHVILLE — Farragut’s third-place finish at the Tennessee Classic cross country meet Saturday — including Georgia and Kentucky teams — was led by the Sneed tandem, Caroline (third) and Margo (fourth) among 246 competitors.

That’s following a second-place finish at the Parade Invitational at Tennessee-Chattanooga Sept. 10.

The FHS boys were second at UTC and, led by Tom Gilmartin’s 24th-place finish (16:38), took 12th in Nashville Saturday.

Meanwhile, Bearden’s boys took seventh in Nashville, while the BHS girls were 13th. “The boys did really well,” head coach Steve Prince said. “We had some kids run out of their minds.”

Among 353 runners, Andrew Shankles led BHS by finishing 24th (16:34). Ben Fennell (16:52) was 36th and Chad Vaughn (17:03) 52nd followed by Jonathan Williams Jr. (17:09), Billy Miller (17:62), Alex Varlan (17:54), Nick Sturman (18:23).

Jenny Randolph’s ninth-place finish led the Bearden girls.
