Grand champions

Bearden High School Bulldog Band was named grand champions at the Halls High School Marching Band Competition Saturday, Sept. 24. Competing against Oak Ridge, Maryville and Greeneville high schools, Bearden placed first in percussion and received a superior rating. Band director Mark Connell said the band accomplished its goals for the week to improve performance strength and professionalism. However, the band still needs to work on playing together at all times. Connell said he credits success of the band finishing ahead of second-place Oak Ridge and third-place Greeneville to the students and the parents who work hard to have uniforms and equipment ready for the band.
