Education funds

Using discretionary funds set aside from the Knox County Commission budget, Commissioner Craig Leuthold, District 5, presents a $2,250 check to the Farragut Education Foundation at Farragut High School’s Bill Clabo Field prior to the Admirals’ football game versus Ooltewah Friday, Oct 15. E. Brian Sellers, foundation president, accepts this donation along with a $4,000 check from FHS students representing Farragut Leadership Initiative. Pictured left to right are senior Charlie Sells, junior Nicole Vesco, seniors Daphne Lin and Jeff Edlund, Sellers, Leuthold and FHS principal Michael Reynolds. “We all get five thousand dollars to give to worthy organizations, and I felt like it was best served that most of it was going to education,” said Leuthold. “I directed twenty-two-fifty to Farragut High School Foundation and I directed twenty-two-fifty to Bearden High School Foundation, which I presented [the previous week]. And I gave five hundred dollars to Farragut youth baseball [Farragut Baseball, Inc.] because they do a great job out there as well.”
