FHS volleyball streak up to 48
Lady Ads win another 4-AAA tourney; hope to earm state berth today

MARYVILLE — Farragut High School’s volleyball team entered the week with a pair of impressive numbers to its credit: 48 and 43.

David Moore’s Lady Admirals extended its District 4-AAA consecutive win streak to 48 spanning three seasons after rallying past Maryville in five games (25-17, 18-25, 15-25, 25-21, 15-9) during the district tournament at William Blount High School Wednesday, Oct 12.

Two match wins, including a semifinal straight game win versus South-Doyle, lifted the 2005 Lady Ads’ overall record to 43-7 entering the week.

Farragut hoped to earn a Sectional berth and possibly host the Sectional game tonight at Lynn E. Sexton Gymnasium at FHS. A win against Karns in the Region 2-AAA semifinals at Clinton Tuesday (after press deadline) would have earned the Lady Ads a sectional berth.

A region championship at Clinton Tuesday would earn Farragut a Sectional home game tonight.

Junior outside hitter Kelsey Benorden, 4-AAA League Most Valuable Player during the regular season, was named 4-AAA tournament MVP.

Jenny Loveday and Amber Fisher also earn All-tournament honors.

Filling in for freshman middle hitter Bryanna Reveiz following a sprained ankle injury during the second game of the tournament title match, inexperienced freshman Ariel Lebert had seen “very little” varsity time but stepped up big.

“I had to throw her in those last three games and she did a good job doing what she needed to do to help us win there,” coach Moore said.
