FHS cross country girls take second, BHS boys third in Metro Knox meet

While the Oak Ridge cross country teams swept to victory in both the boys and girls competition, the Farragut girls took second in the Class AAA Metro Knoxville Championships Friday, Oct. 14, at the Cherokee Boulevard course.
Bearden’s boys were third (114) behind ORHS (60) and Webb School (91), followed closely by the FHS boys in fourth (128).
The Lady Admirals (78) were 19 points behind the champion Lady Wildcats (59), while Bearden finished eighth (181).
Jenny Randolph led the BHS Lady Bulldog charge by finishing second (19:20.37), while Farragut’s Lindley-Sneed sibling tandems once again came through.
Meredith Lindley was the Lady Admirals’ top finisher, grabbing 10th-place (20:09.50) just ahead of teammate Caroline Sneed in 11th-place (20:12.17). Andrea Lindley was 14th (20:13.69), and Lady Ad Margo Sneed finished 19th (20:23.25)
Among the boys, Bulldog Andrew Shankles was fifth (16:02.28), while Farragut’s top man was Tom Gilmartin, who took 11th (16:17.12).
Aaron Attkinsson of Bearden was 17th (16:32.35), barely edging Peter Woerner of Farragut (18th-place, 16:32.64).
The Class AAA regional meet is Thursday, Oct. 27, at Victor Ashe Park. The state meet i s Saturday, Nov. 5, in Nashville
