Turkey Creek death victim ID’d
Drugs blamed for teenager’s death, KPD said


Knoxville Police released the identity of a 19-year-old Knox County man who was found dead in the back seat of a Ford Explorer in the alleyway behind Regal Cinemas Pinnacle theater in the Turkey Creek shopping development.

Tyler W. Vowell was discovered at about 6:15 p.m. KPD spokesman Darryl DeBusk said he died as the result of a drug overdose.

Vowell had been reported missing to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office Saturday, Oct. 22. DeBusk stated the victim appeared to have been in the backseat of the vehicle for some time.

Vowell was born in Oak Ridge and had attended Anderson County High School.

He was active in baseball, racing, swimming and had played in the school band. He was a member of Clinch River Baptist Church.

He is the son of Gloria Vowell of Knoxville and Jeff Seivers of Clinton.

Funeral arrangements were provided by Hatmaker. The funeral was held Monday, Nov. 7, with the Rev. Tom Byrge and the Rev. Elmer Thomas officiating. Interment was Tuesday, Nov. 8, at Foust Cemetery in Lake City.
