DOE seeks Board volunteers

OAK RIDGE — The Department of Energy is seeking volunteers to fill current and future vacancies on the Oak Ridge Site Specific Advisory Board. The Board provides advice and recommendations to DOE on environmental management issues on the Oak Ridge Reservation.

“The Board is an independent body making recommendations to DOE,” said Steve McCracken, assistant manager for Environmental Management and deputy designated federal officer to the Board. “DOE will use an independent process to screen applicants and recommend prospective Board members to ensure fair representation and a balance of technical and non-technical membership.”

Chartered in 1995 under the Federal Advisory Committee Act, the Board is composed of up to 20 members, chosen to reflect the diversity of gender, race, occupation and interests of persons living near the Oak Ridge Reservation. ORSSAB meets monthly. Technical expertise is not required for Board membership and a broad spectrum of backgrounds and viewpoints is sought.

Membership applications are available on the Board’s Web site at www.oakridge.doe.gov/em/ssab or by calling 865-576-1590.
