- Thu, Nov, 17, 2005
Dr. Donald Rhodes, longtime principal of Farragut Middle School passed away Nov. 9.
“He had a tremendous impact on thousands of children’s lives,” Dr. Robert Frazier, principal of Farragut Intermediate School said of Rhodes, who served as FMS principal for 29 years.
“We worked side by side for over twenty years,” Frazier said. “I know Dr. Rhodes was very concerned about the academics of the school, but was also an advocate of the arts and was very involved in theater. One of his first loves was the theater. He encouraged the children to have plays annually. He was very supportive of the fine arts grogram. He loved history and researching the history of Farragut and writing about it. He worked diligently at collecting memorabilia from around the nation that had to do with Admiral David Farragut to display at the school.
“He has left a great legacy for the Farragut community.”
Rhodes, 68, died Wednes-day, following a courageous battle with metastasized colon cancer.
