Bunn signs with Memphis
- Thu, Nov, 17, 2005
Farragut High School golf champion Brandon Bunn, 18, signed National Letter of Intent papers with the University of Memphis during a signing ceremony with family and FHS golf head coach Mike Driver, standing, Wednesday, Nov. 9, in the school Commons. Bunn, defending District 4-AAA Tournament championship who finished 17th in the state as a junior during the 2004 Class AAA state tournament, said he chose Memphis because, “I like the school, I like the coach a lot, he’s a new coach [Grant Robbins]. … And so, I believe in probably the next two or three years that they’ll be probably like winning their conference [Conference USA] or competing to win their conference and then from there they’ll probably compete for, hopefully, for a national championship. Plus, they get to play a lot of good golf courses, so it should be a good opportunity. And Memphis is a nice city, a big city, so there should be a lot to do.” Driver said Bunn, “hits the ball extremely long” adding that “he’s a kid that if he makes a couple of bogeys he can get it back later on in the round.”
