Wright is special on KSU special teams play
Staff Reports - Thu, Dec, 22, 2005
Michael Wright, 2005 Farragut High School graduate and former Ad football standout, had a special moment as a freshman special teams player for Kentucky State University in Frankfort.
“The first game of the season I blocked a punt that my teammate recovered in the end zone for a touchdown,” Wright said of a victory against Clark of Atlanta en route to a 6-5 season.
As for adjusting to the college game, “the tempo in college is much faster, way faster than high school,” Wright said. “It’s something I had to adjust to real quick. I was nervous going into camp.
“At the first scrimmage it took me a while to get the hang of the speed, but in the second and third scrimmage I scored both times. I got used to it pretty quick.”
Saying he was a fourth-string tailback last season, “Going into spring [practice] I think I’m second [string],” Wright said.
