Farragut and West Knox County residents have been overwhelmed by the horrible odor emitting from the Wastewater Treatment Plant off Concord Road.

Officials at First Utility District have stated that a foreign substance was probably introduced into the system killing off the element that neutralizes waste and odor.

At this time FUD doesnít know what or where the substance came from but have put out a plea (see Page 1 story) to the public for any information concerning the event.

FUD also stated that the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation along with the Environmental Protection Agency have taken an interest in the event.

If this was deliberate or an act of gross negligence, it is our hope that whoever perpetrated this misdeed be dealt with accordingly.

Meanwhile, we will have to be patient as science tries to correct the situation.
