• The 2006 FHS Baseball Diamond Dinner begins at 6 p.m., Monday, Jan. 23, at First Farragut United Methodist Church, 12733 Kingston Pike. Aubrey’s will be catering the meal. Vanderbilt University coach Tim Corbin will be guest speaker. Tickets are $25 per person and can be purchased from any FHS baseball player or from Catherine Nance at 865-966-5490.

• Bearden Baseball Dugout Club is sponsoring a barbecue dinner prior to the Bearden versus Farragut varsity basketball games Friday, Jan. 20, at BHS. The dinner runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Cost is $6 each or $20 for a family of four. To purchase tickets, call BHS varsity head coach Matt Buckner at 865-368-3141.

• Registration has begun for Farragut Baseball, Inc. for the Spring 2006 season. Forms are available at Pak Mail, 11803 Kingston Pike (in Farragut Towne Square). You can also download forms via the Web at www.eteamz.com/fbi under the “handouts” section. Sign-ups continue through Feb. 11. It is important to register your child by that date. Families who register late will not be guaranteed a spot. Farragut Baseball, Inc. serves children from ages 5 to 18. Most games are played “on the hill by the lake” along Northshore Drive. Hotline numbers are as follows for the various leagues: Main number, 865-671-8851; Instructional, 865-671-1865; Roberto Clemente and Machine Pitch, 865-671-1866; Willie Mays, 865-671-1867; Pee Wee Reese, 865-671-1873; Sandy Koufax, 865-671-1874. Meanwhile, the annual tryout/draft has been moved from Farragut Middle School to Knoxville Christian School, Snider Road. Saturday, Feb. 25, tryouts will be held for Roberto Clemente (9 a.m. to noon) and Machine Pitch (1 to 4 p.m.) and from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, for the Willie Mays league. Pee Wee Reese (2 to 4 p.m.) and Sandy Koufax leagues (10 a.m. to noon) will try-out Feb. 25 on their respective fields.
