• The Farragut Junior Varsity Dance Team competed at the UDA Smoky Mountain Classic dance competition. Competing at a varsity level, the team won second in pom division and third in hip-hop division. Emily Souse and Hollye Bynum competed in individual competition with Emily placing first and Hollye placing third. The team will compete in February at the UDA national competition at Disney World, Orlando, Fla. Jhasta Culvahouse, a former Farragut dancer, is the team’s coach.

• Farragut High School’s Open House will begin 7 p.m. tonight in the school auditorium. Donations of hand sanitizer and tissues may be left in the main office. Bearden High School’s Open House begins at 6:30 p.m. Parents of sophomores will meet in the auditorium at 5:45 p.m. Parents of juniors will meet in the library at 5:45 p.m.

• Maryville College will host its last Open House of the academic year for prospective students and their families Saturday, Feb. 4. Registration begins at 7:45 a.m. in the Fine Arts Center and is followed by a welcome session at 8:20 a.m., after which attendees are invited to attend academic program sessions led by the college’s faculty members. Information about the admissions process, financial aid, scholarships, academic life and student life will be the topics of conversation at the parent session. Prospective students will have an opportunity to talk with current MC students about campus life. Lunch will be served in the Margaret Ware Dining Room in Pearsons Hall. Tickets will be available for purchase ($3 each) at registration. Following lunch, guests are invited to stay and watch the Lady Scots basketball team compete against the Scotties of Agnes Scott College. Tip-off is at 2 p.m. in Boydson Baird Gymnasium. Admission is free for those wearing their Open House nametags. • Marietta College (Ohio) freshman Kimberly N. Page, daughter of Karen and Alan Page of Knoxville, has been named to the Dean’s List for Fall 2005 semester. Any full-time MC student completing at least 15 credit hours with a grade point average of 3.00 to 3.49 in a given semester is recognized as a Dean’s List student for that semester. Page, a graduate of Farragut High School, is working toward a major in musical theatre. Located in Marietta, Ohio, at the confluence of the Muskingum and Ohio rivers, Marietta College is a four-year liberal arts college. Tracing its roots to the Muskingum Academy begun in 1797, Marietta College serves a body of 1,300 full-time students.
