Governor to speak at luncheon

The Knoxville Chamber will host Gov. Phil Bredesen at a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3. Bredesen will discuss state and legislative issues and their impact on the local business community.

The Knoxville appearance comes as the special session on ethics winds down and the governor is expected to discuss the General Assemblyís work on the matter. He will also discuss education and workforce development, the progress of his TennCare reforms, the development of the safety net and other issues important to business. A question and answer period will follow his address.

The Chamber luncheon comes just days before the governorís scheduled State of the State address.

ďThe way things have shaken out itís a real coup for us to have the governor now,Ē said Mike Edwards, president and CEO of the Chamber.

The event will be at the Knoxville Convention Center. Reservations may be made by calling 865-246-2622.
