Freshman leads BHS effort at KIL

Among its pair of KIL top-four placers, one of Bearden’s youngest and smallest wrestlers was the biggest Dawg Saturday at Webb School.

Freshman Ian Little finished third in the 112-pound class at the annual KIL Tournament Jan. 28.

“His strength and skill are coming along.” BHS head coach Jason Andersen said.

Junior Nathan Bevelhimer finished fourth without getting a chance to wrestle for third-place in the consolation finals. Because his opponent, Farragut’s Lee Travis, had already wrestled a TSSAA mandated maximum of five matches in one day, Bevelhimer’s battle for third came down to a coin toss.

Junior Andrew Birdwell (top six at 125) reached the semifinals before losing. Sam Bevelhimer (140) also finished in the top six.
