State wrestling ahead for Reveiz
Defending 215 state champ starts repeat effort today at UTC

ALCOA Hes unbeaten, hes in tip-top shape and hes still hungry, not to mention experienced and confident as defending state champ in the 215-pound weight class.

Farragut senior wrestler Nick Reveiz carries a 30-0 record and lots more to Chattanooga this week to defend his Division I (public school) state crown beginning today.

I really feel like Im right where I need to be, Im going to state seeded number one, Reveiz said after making easy work of the Region 2 tourney field Saturday, Feb. 11. Its a lot of pressure, but Im glad its on me. I feel like the pressure is making me work harder.

Still hungry? I want it more than I did last year, Reveiz said about repeating, because its expected. Whats expected of me, I want to exceed it.

How has Reveiz improved since last season? Im stronger, Im quicker, I feel like I have more moves I can shoot. I feel a lot more comfortable. ... Like Ive said before, that goes to my coaches, Joe Knox and Lee Cottrell, theyve got me where I want to be.

In December, when I had my tonsils out, I was fat, and those two coaches brought me back together and brought me where I needed to be, Reveiz added.

State finals are Saturday evening at UTC.
