Weather forces rescheduling of District 4-AAA tournament


With snow and ice making its way into the Farragut and Knox County area early Saturday, District 4-AAA Basketball Tournament games scheduled Saturday evening and night at Farragut High School have been postponed.

Saturday's four games have been rescheduled for Monday, Feb. 20, beginning with a 4:30 girls game between No. 3-seed William Blount and No. 6 Maryville. That's followed at approximately 6 p.m. with a boys game between No. 3 Farragut and No. 6 South-Doyle.

Scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Monday is the girls game between No. 4 South-Doyle and No. 5 Sevier County. The final game, set for 9 p.m., features the No. 4 Maryville boys versus No. 5 Sevier County.

Girls semifinals originally set for Monday have been moved up to Tuesday, Feb. 21: At 6:30, No. 2 Farragut versus the William Blount-Maryville winner; at approximately 8 p.m., No. 1 Heritage versus the South-Doyle-Sevier County winner.

Boys semifinals orginally set for Tuesday have been moved to Wednesday, Feb. 22: At 6:30, No. 2 William Blount versus the Farragut-South-Doyle winner; at approximately 8 p.m., No. 1 Bearden versus the Maryville-Sevier County winner.

Girls championship game (8 p.m.) and consolation game (6:30) remain as scheduled Thursday, Feb. 23, as does the boys' championship game (8 p.m.) and consolation game (6:30) Friday, Feb. 24.
