Lady Govs dump FHS girls in tourney semis


Despite holding an early 10-point lead, the Farragut Lady Admirals lost to William Blount 62-54 in the District 4-AAA basketball tournanment semifinals Tuesday, Feb. 21, in FHS's Lynn E. Sexton Gymnasium.

While Lady Governor standout guard Angela Puleo led all scorers with 28 points, she got help from teammate Audra McBrayer's 25.

William Blount, overcoming a 29-28 halftime deficit to lead 42-38 after three periods, sealed the win by converting 14 of 15 free throw attempts in the fourth quarter.

No. 2 seed Farragut (22-8 record) was led by Beth Raby with 16 points followed by Catelyn Dake with 14. As a team, FHS made only 15 of 28 free throws for the game.

The No. 3 seed Lady Govs (17-13 record), advances to play No. 1 seed Heritage in Thursday's tourney championship game, set to tip-off at 8 p.m.

The Lady Admirals will play No. 4-seed South Doyle in Thursday's consolation game, set to begin at 6:30 p.m.
