• The Bearden High School PTSO will hold a spring fund-raiser. An Outback Steakhouse dinner will be served in the BHS cafeteria from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 8. The meal, prepared by the Outback Steakhouse Restaurant, will consist of steak, Caesar salad, seasoned rice, bread, cheesecake and a beverage. Tickets are available on a pre-sale basis in the BHS West Mall office, and are $15 for adults and $10 for students and BHS staff. The Bearden Fashion Show will also be held that night, so school officials advise participants to come early and enjoy a delicious meal before the show.
• Benjamin Jason Barocas, son of Morris and Laurie Barocas, of Farragut, was named to the dean’s list with distinction at Duke University for the Fall 2005 semester. At the Pratt School of Engineering, a student must rank in the top third within their classes to make the dean’s list; for dean’s list with distinction, the student must rank in the top tenth within their classes. Barocas is a biomedical engineering, chemistry and pre-med major. He graduated
from Webb School of Knoxville.
