‘Friends of Farragut High School’ launch campaign
- Thu, Feb, 23, 2006
The Farragut High School Education Foundation is launching a new fund-raising campaign for the 2005-2006 school year, said Brian Sellers, president of the Foundation.
Businesses with ties to the Farragut community are being sent a letter in an effort to help raise money for the many needs at FHS. The campaign has been dubbed “Friends of Farragut High School.”
“Of our original goal of $100,000 for this school year, we have raised approximately $45,000 through parent donations and other sources,” Sellers said in the letter.
“But recent events have led us to increase the urgency of our appeal for your support. The laboratories in the science department have become a crisis, due to the inadequacy of the infrastructure and the failure of certain key components, leading to safety hazards requiring the shutdown of the chemistry labs.”
The letter points out that while temporary measures are being explored, the science department’s advisory council has recommended an overhaul of the department.
