Rookie Delmonico hitting .333, Cobb 0.47 ERA for No. 6 Vols
FHS alum Cody Brown has two hits versus Georgia Tech


Farragut High School alumni on the No. 6-ranked University of Tennessee baseball team are making sizeable contributions through nine games.

Tony Delmonico, starting shortstop in each of the Volsí first nine games (7-2 record), is batting .333 (11 of 33) with three doubles, one triple and seven runs batted in.

At shortstop, Delmonico is fielding at a .927 clip.

Junior relief pitcher Craig Cobb has an 0.47 earned run average in seven appearance (2-0 record), and was effective against both Georgia Tech (8-5 loss Feb. 25) and Coastal Carolina (10-6 Feb. 26). Cobb is allowing opponents to hit only .214 while giving up 15 hits, two runs and four walks with 16 strikeouts in 19.1 innings of work.

Recently back from a wrist injury, freshman third baseman Cody Brown came off the bench against Georgia Tech and had two hits in three plate appearances.

Brown started at third base Sunday against Coastal Carolina 10-6, going 0-of-4 at the plate.

Former Webb School stars, freshmen Brian Bibee (outfielder) and Zach Gosselin (pitcher), join FHS alum Scott Dean, a sophomore catcher, on the UT roster.
