• A mandatory informational parent meeting for any Farragut High School student wishing to try-out for cheerleading for the 2006-2007 school year will be held at 7 p.m., March 6, at the FHS library. A parent must be present at this meeting to sign up their student for try-outs and obtain important information about the upcoming cheer year.

• Farragut Sports Infoline, 865-966-2420, is available in the winter for information about upcoming athletic league registrations, deadlines and the cancellation of classes at the Town Hall in case of severe weather.  Starting March 11, the Infoline will be updated on weekdays by 3 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays by 8 a.m. and will include field closures due to weather or maintenance issues.

• Town of Farragut Sand Volleyball Leagues are accepting sign ups. Teams are four to six players, featuring coed recreational and coed competitive leagues.  The competitive league requires a higher skill level and a greater adherence to the rules than the recreational league. Each team must play with at least two women on the court at all times.  Registration began Wednesday, March 1, with the final registration deadline for the late spring session Thursday, March 16.  Cost is $100 per team for recreational league and $125 per team for competitive league.  Leagues include 6 regular season matches plus a single elimination post-season tournament.  In addition to the session listed below, teams may also register for early and late summer leagues starting March 1. Spring competitive coed leagues compete Mondays, beginning April 3, through mid-May in the evening hours at Mayor Bob Leonard Park. If make-up matches are needed due to inclement weather, they may be played Thursday evenings. Spring recreational league will be played each Tuesday beginning April 4 and running through mid-May in the evening hours at Mayor Bob Leonard Park. If make-up matches are needed due to inclement weather, they may be played Thursday evenings.      

• All town of Farragut softball leagues are ASA sanctioned — which is a changed from 2005 — for participants 18 and older and are played in the evening at Mayor Bob Leonard Park. Prices include softballs for league play.  Priority registration is given to teams who played in the spring 2005 leagues (deadline is Thursday, March 9); registration for any openings will be taken beginning at 8 p.m., Monday, March 13, at Farragut Town Hall.  Payment must be received at time of registration. Spring Men’s “C” League, plays Mondays and Thursdays beginning Monday, April 10, and running through mid June.  Home run limit of seven per game. League includes 14 regular season games and a single elimination post-season tournament. Cost is $475 per team. Spring Men’s “D” League plays Mondays beginning April 10, running through mid June. Home run limit of one per game.  League includes seven regular season games and a single elimination post-season tournament. Cost is $275 per team. Spring Men’s “Senior” League requires all participants to be age 50 or older. Games are Tuesdays beginning April 11, running through mid June. League includes seven regular season games and a single elimination post-season tournament. Cost is $275 per team. Spring Women’s League plays Tuesdays beginning April 11, running through mid June.  League includes seven regular season games and a single elimination post-season tournament. Cost is $275 per team. Spring Coed League plays Thursdays beginning April 13, running through mid June. Home run limit of one per game. League includes seven regular season games and a single elimination post-season tournament. Cost is $275 per team. • Sarrah Browning, Webb School of Knoxville standout volleyball player, signed with Emory & Henry College, Thursday, Feb. 16, in Webb’s Lee Athletic Center. Browning was named this year to the All-KIL (by vote of the coaches) second team, having recorded 229 points for the season, with 111 kills, 23 blocks and 13 assists. She helped lead the Lady Spartans to this year’s District II East Regional Tournament and 37-6 record.
