Canter inks with APSU

Adam Canter, standout senior linebacker/fullback for the Bearden Bulldogs, signed National Letter of Intent papers with Austin Peay State University (Clarksville) Tuesday, Feb. 14, in the BHS “Pit.” Saying the 6-foot, 200-pound All-Region 1-5A linebacker is projected as a linebacker at APSU, former BHS head coach Paul Maynard added, “They’re really high on him ... the head coach [Carroll McCray] was back here personally recruiting Adam. They think he’s going to be a big impact player for them.”

A BHS team captain along with senior lineman Shane Fredenberg, Canter was named the Knox County area’s player of the week thanks to his performance in a victory against Karns. Seated alongside Canter are his father and mother, David Canter and Karen Shotwell. Standing, left to right, are Angela Canter, step-mother; Don Canter, grandfather; Wesley Shotwell, step-father, and Sarah Canter, sister, a sophomore at BHS.
