Win streak, many close losses

The joy of a six-game winning streak was offset a bit by several close losses for the Farragut Middle School boys basketball team this season.

Led by forward Reese Browning and point guard Nathan Gibson, FMS finished with a 10-8 overall record, 9-4 in regular season Knox County league play, earning the Admirals a No. 3 seed for the county tournament.

Suffering some close losses early in the season, “After Christmas, we really started rolling,” FMS head coach Randy Swartzentruber said. “But probably the thumbnail of our season, close games that didn’t go our way.”

Other key FMS players were eighth-graders Stewart Martens, Daniel Leamon, Landon Hunley, Blake Hicks, Brian Godfrey, Josh Delaney, Gabriel Porter, Clark Brandon and seventh-grader Skyler Brown.
