Ads lose, but seniors praised

SEVIERVILLE — Despite a 61-44 loss to Oak Ridge in the opening round of the Region 2-AAA Tournament at Sevier County High School Tuesday, Feb. 28, Farragut’s senior class was praised.

“A special bunch ... Marcus Huie, B.J. Browning, Scott Carroll and Tyler Powell, all four of ’em have stepped up for us through the years here, especially this year,” FHS head coach Donald Dodgen said about a group that led his District 4-AAA tourney runners-up to a final 20-12 record. “Great kids to have with your program. ... They’ve worked real hard.

“I just hated it had to end the way ended,” Dodgen added, pointing to poor shooting in the second and third quarters as a major factor in the loss to Oak Ridge.

Huie led in scoring with 13, with Carroll and Will Akers adding seven each. Jeff Jameson had four, Browning three and two each from Mason Burks, Riley Hunley, Zach Onusic, Phil Kinney and Kyle Binder.
