Sawyer to Campbellsville

Forrest Sawyer, a second-team All-Region 1-5A honoree at wide receiver who also started at defensive back and kick returner with the Bearden High School Bulldog football team, signed with Campbellsville (Ky.) University, an NAIA school with an enrollment of about 2,000, during a brief ceremony recently in the BHS Pit. As for making his choice, I felt good when I went up there, the people were nice, I just liked the environment, the 17-year-old senior said, adding that hell likely be a receiver who also returns kicks at Campbellsville. FHS assistant football coach Reed Lindsey said, Hes very fast, four-point-four-five, four-point-four-six, and his catching ability, he has great hands. Hes an excellent punt returner, good field vision. Sitting alongside Sawyer are his mother and father, Terri and Michael Sawyer. Standing, left to right, are Julie Ellis, sister; Billie Bowden, grandmother; coach Lindsey, and Helen Parrish, grandmother. Not pictured are Glen Bowden and Harvey Parrish, grandfathers.
