As we all know by now, the Campbell Station Road extension is open to traffic.

As many motorists living in the Northshore Drive area get accustomed to taking the new route to Kingston Pike and Interstate 40/75 interchange, somewhere in the back of their minds they must remember that come Monday, March 27, the road will close.

Town engineer Darryl Smith told farragutpress that Renfro Construction Co., the firm that is doing the actual road construction, closed Concord Road Monday, March 20, between Farragut Hills Boulevard and the Campbell Station Road extension in order to bring the roads up to an even grade.

“The plan is to re-open Concord Road on March twenty-seventh,” Smith said. “Once that is opened up, the Campbell Station Road extension will be closed again.”

Closed again and adding more confusion for the citizens of the area who are just getting used to the new route.

Of course Monday morning the road was not ready for traffic as a line of vehicles was backed up to Turkey Creek Road while road construction crews rushed to paint lines on the road surface — something that should have been completed the prior week just to make it a bit easier on the taxpayer who is footing the bill for the project. Good planning.

With this in mind, we can’t wait until the next Campbell Station Road project begins.
