Nixon to speak at Chamber breakfast

The Farragut West Knox Chamber of Commerce will host its second “Speaker Series” breakfast of the year beginning at 7:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 28, at Fox Den Country Club with Jim Nixon, a partner with Turkey Creek Land Partners.

“I don’t know why they want me,“ Nixon joked about being invited to speak at the Chamber breakfast. “I can tell them a little bit about the Turkey Creek development.”

Nixon said Turkey Creek Land Partners has joined forces with Colonial Properties Trust of Birmingham, Ala., to develop the 400-acre tract that comprises the mammoth Turkey Creek development. Those are just the first two phases of the project.

For the third phase, the two have joined together in a joint venture and are known in corporate circles as Parkside Drive, LLC. This third phase will deal with a 33-acre strip of land.

“We’re excited about it opening in April,” he said. “We’ve got a lot going on in the Farragut area.”

Nixon, 60, said he has been in the development business since 1968. A native of Dayton, he said he studied real estate in college.

“We’re excited to have Jim Nixon as our speaker,” said Bettye Sisco, president and CEO of the Farragut West Knox Chamber of Commerce.

“We’ve had about thirteen of these breakfast series speakers and the community and chamber members have responded positively to these early morning events,” she said.

Tickets could be purchased through March 21 at the Farragut West Knox Chamber of Commerce. For more information, call 865-675-7057.
