Youth summitt to be held April 17


United Way of Greater Knoxville, along with the City of Knoxville and Knox County Mayors’ Youth Action Council, will host the Knoxville Youth Summit from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, April 17, at the Knoxville Convention Center. A premiere event for youth, by youth, the summit is an opportunity for high school students to come together and address issues facing teens today.

Pat Summitt, The University of Tennessee women’s basketball coach, with help from members of the Youth Action Council, will kick off the event. At lunch, summit participants will have an opportunity to discuss the ideas and concerns expressed in the morning workshops with public officials, including members of School Board, City Council and County Commission.

Following lunch, keynote speaker Josh Shipp will share his empowering story of triumph over tragedy.
