Soccer Ads edge Lenoir City after tie with West, forfeit

LENOIR CITY — Despite a 15-3 edge in shots on goal, the Farragut High School boys soccer team struggled with finishing shots against Lenoir City Thursday, April 6, at LCHS.

But Kevin Underwood’s second-half goal, assisted by Matt Dakin, saved the day in a 1-0 Admiral victory, as the FHS record stood at 5-1-3 entering the week.

“We had a rash of great shots, but we just couldn’t get the ball in the net,” FHS head coach Wallie Culbreth said. “But a win’s a win.”

In addition to picking up a forfeit victory against Heritage, Farragaut also tied West 2-2, Tuesday, April 4, at WHS.

The Rebels (3-2-2 record after the game) rallied from a 2-1 halftime deficit, as FHS outshot West 7-6. Ad goals came from Underwood and Alex Ventura.

Individually, Culbreth praised Tyler Swift and Robert Fisher for “playing really well” while giving “one-hundred-and-ten percent out there” in recent games.
