• Farragut High School’s tennis teams were off to hot starts coming into this week’s action. The FHS girls, 5-2 overall and 3-0 in District 4-AAA dual match play, finished second during the 50th Annual Chattanooga Rotary Tournament April 7-8, ahead of such schools as Kingsport Dobyns-Bennett, Johnson City Science Hill, Siegel, Father Ryan and University School of Jackson. Team leaders include Lauren Farlett, Sarah Godfrey and Leslie Roberge. Despite losing its No. 1 player recently, the FHS boys were 5-0 and 3-0 entering the week, led by Andrew Noble and Tron Dareing, who were both unbeaten in dual match singles play entering the week.

• With his last three starts being complete game victories against Arkansas, LSU and Florida, Tennessee Vol pitcher Craig Cobb — a former Farragut High School All-state honoree — was named to the College Baseball Foundation National Honor Roll for the first week in April. The weekly honor roll recognizes the past week’s top performers nationally in college baseball. Cobb’s inclusion marks the first for a UT player this season. Cobb (7-1 record) carries a team-best 2.58 earned run average.

• Atomic City Aquatic Club president Merry Ann Hansen announces that ACAC’s Board of Directors has secured Mike Bowman, Farragut High School swimming and diving head coach, to fill the position of ACAC head coach starting May 9.
