SoccerDawgs edge West 2-1

It came down to the little things. Bearden soccer head coach Eric Turner has been waiting for his boys team to come together and finish out a close game with a win.

That’s exactly what happened for Bearden when they defeated West 2-1, Thursday, April 13, at BHS’s Allender Field.

From the onset, both teams came to play. Bearden (5-3-2 overall record entering the week) took the early lead three minutes in when freshman Aaron Attkisson knocked in a goal on an assist from Billy York.

Tied 1-1, BHS’s Tom Webster scored with 20:25 left in the game on an assist from Phillip Andreae.

“Finally our forwards were anticipating the ball through and he was able to beat the goalie off the line, and we were making the hustle plays today,” Turner said, “... [goalie] Bryan Walker made a great save there at the end of the game, and we finally won a close one against a good team and that’s what we’ve been looking for.”
