BHS girls 1-4 on the week
Chris Murray - Thu, Apr, 20, 2006
It was a rough week for the Bearden Lady Bulldogs softball team, finishing the week with a 1-4 record. That included a 6-0 loss to archrival Farragut Tuesday, April 13, at home.
Bearden’s overall record dropped to 4-10, 3-6 in District 4-AAA, entering the week.
The lone victory of the week came in a 4-3 win, Wednesday, April 12, at Halls. Junior Rachel Rowan got the win on the mound in a complete game effort despite a late-game comeback by the Lady Red Devils.
The Lady Bulldogs were up 3-0 after a two-run double by Amber Allen in the sixth. Bearden’s Amanda McCollum led off the top of the seventh with a single. After a sacrifice bunt that moved McCollum to second, the stage was set.
Paige Harmony hit a dribbler to first, the ball was misplayed and McCollum ended up scoring what proved to be the game-winning run.
