A perfect week for Lady Admirals softball

With a pair of doubleheader sweeps plus a near perfect game on the mound, Farragut’s softball team finished perfect last week.

In addition to sweeping Gibbs, 1-0 and 3-0, Saturday, April 22, at FHS’s Bellamy Field, the Lady Ads whipped Sevier County twice at home, 9-0 and 12-1, Wednesday, April 19.

FHS entered the week 14-8-1 overall, 9-2 in District 4-AAA.

But it all started with Margaret Morris’ near perfect game at South-Doyle Tuesday, April 18. While striking out 15 in a 9-0 FHS victory, Morris took a perfect game into the seventh-inning before a solo homer ruined perfection. It was SDHS’s only baserunner.

Offensively, Jessie Howard led the way with two runs scored and two stolen bases.

In game one versus Sevier County, Morris allowed just two hits with 14 strikeouts.

“Rachel Ingleby had a fantastic day,” FHS head coach David Moore said about his sophomore, who had three hits and three RBIs in game one (9-0), then four hits, including two doubles, and five RBIs in game two (12-1).

That’s in addition to Ingleby pitching the game two win, going four innings while allowing one run and two hits. Kristin Murr relieved for one inning without giving up a run.

Other top efforts in game one included Lauren Briody with two hits and two runs scored, and Cayla Smith with two RBIs.

In game two, Christine Hannahs had two hits and two runs scored, while Sarah Young had two hits and one RBI.

In game one versus Gibbs (1-0), Farragut struck in the bottom of the seventh after consecutive singles from Abby Rose Martin, Howard and Hannahs. Morris walked to score pinch-runner LaShae Wallace.

“Christi Hannahs had two real good catches, both were headed to the gap that she ran down,” Moore said of his right fielder.

In game two (3-0), Ingleby went the distance, allowing five hits while striking out three.

Ingleby and Smith had RBI singles, while Howard added an RBI double. Sara Rini tripled, while Hannahs and Ingleby also doubled. Lyndsey Slade and Keri Meade scored runs.
