Baxter heading to C-N
- Thu, Apr, 27, 2006
Adam Baxter, former standout defensive lineman for the Farragut Admirals football team, signed National Letter of Intent papers with Carson-Newman College during a brief ceremony April 5 in the FHS Commons. “He’s a tough football player, has a big frame, and he’s able to play at several places,” Admiral head coach Eddie Courtney said of Baxter. “He’s goal-oriented, has a positive attitude, good size [6-foot-5, 260 pounds], and tremendous grades [3.4 grade point average/1350 core SAT], who will fit in personality-wise at C-N. And he comes from a good family, it’s a dream-come-true for them.” Baxter, 18, said he chose C-N because “it’s a good program, great for academics, a good school,” adding that he will play defensive end, defensive line, “or maybe offensive line.” Alongside Baxter are his parents, Diane and Van Baxter. Standing is Baxter’s brother, David, an FHS freshman, and coach Courtney.
