Levy headed to Mercer

Carolyn Levy, a member of the Farragut High School girls golf Class AAA state championship team in 2004 — and state runner-up team in 2005 — recently signed National Letter of Intent papers with Mercer University of Macon, Ga., during a brief signing ceremony in the FHS commons. Levy earned All-KIL honors in 2003 and 2005, and received the Jack Carr Award in 2003 and 2005 as the Farragut High School male or female golfer who exhibits the most sportsmanship, dedication and commitment to improving the FHS golf team. Among her high tourney finishes, Levy took second-place in the 2003 Regional High School Tournament at Willow Creek Golf Club. She finished third at the 2004 International Junior Golf Tournament at Sea Pines in Hilton Head, S.C., and captured third in 2003 Baptist Cup at Landmark at Avalon Golf Club. “She’s a tireless worker on the practice range, she works extremely hard on her short game, which is something a lot of kids don’t do,” FHS head coach Mike Driver said. As for why she chose Mercer, “The golf coach [Sally Hammel], I love her, and I love school, everything about it,” the 18-year-old said. Sitting beside Levy is her father, Farrell. Standing left to right are Driver and Levy’s sister, Rachel. Not pictured is Levy’s mother, Laura.
