Cook, Wright to wed
Melissa Louise Cook and Derek Taylor Wright will be married Saturday, July 1, at Magnolia Manor.

The bride-elect is the daughter of James and Roberta Cook of Augusta, Ga.

She is the granddaughter of Ruth Thornton and the late Ray Thornton of Santa Maria, Calif., and Arlis Cook and the late Ethel Cook of Pineville, W.Va.

She graduated from Augusta Christian School in 1998. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology in 2001 from Georgia College and State University. She attended graduate school at Georgia Southern University and received a Master of Education degree in counselor education in 2003. She is a school counselor.

The prospective groom is the son of Danny and Nancy Wright of Knoxville.

He is the grandson of Joseph and Lois Gillentine of Kingston, Harry and Virginia Young of Highlands, N.C., and the late Clyde and Cecile Wright of Harriman.

He graduated from Farragut High School in 1999 and from The University of Tennessee in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. He is business development coordinator for Infinity Insurance Co.

Following their wedding, the couple will honeymoon in Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. They will then reside in Knoxville.

Gore, Holladay will wed in June
Mary Gore of Arlington, Va., and Rick Gore of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Sara Ann, to James Scott Holladay, son of Jim and Rita Holladay of Farragut.

The bride-elect is a graduate of Yorktown High School and Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in counseling psychology.

She is currently a graduate student in library and information science at the University of Denver in Denver, Colo.

The prospective groom is a graduate of Farragut High School and Furman University with bachelor’s degrees in economics and computer science. He received a Master of Arts degree in economics from the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colo.

He is currently a doctoral candidate in environmental and international economics at the University of Colorado.

The couple plans a June wedding in Washington, D.C. After a honeymoon trip to Costa Rica, the couple will reside in Boulder.

Kennedy, McGill wed in Atlanta
India Lewis Kennedy and R. Norman McGill were married Saturday, Feb. 18, at All Saints Church in Atlanta, Ga., with the Ref. Geoffrey Hoare officiating.

The bride is the daughter of David Dean and Kay Kennedy of Amarillo, Texas.

She is a graduate of Tascosa High School in Amarillo and Pine Manor College, Chestnut Hill, Mass. She is the southeast lead account manager for Microsoft/MSN in Alpharetta, Ga.

The groom is the son of Dr. Ralph and Marianne McGill of Farragut.

He is a graduate of Farragut High School and The University of Tennessee and is a senior trainer for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Matron of honor was Sloan Smith, sister of the bride.

Flower girls were Isabel and Olivia Smith, the bride’s nieces.

Best man was Dr. Ralph McGill, father of the groom.

Ushers were Scott Broyles of Knoxville, Jeff Broyles of Athens, Curtis Kowalski of Denver, Colo., and Lance Linsell of Atlanta.

Ring-bearer was Nicholas Broyles of Athens.

Readings were given by Kimberly McGill Pratt, sister of the groom, and David Dean Kennedy Jr., brother of the bride.

Following their honeymoon in St. Lucia, the newlyweds are making their home in Roswell, Ga..
