• Golfers can help Pellissippi State Technical Community College students and play golf at the same time when they tee off for the Swing Big for Students Tournament May 23 at Egwani Farms in Rockford. Sponsored by the Pellissippi State Foundation, the event is an 18-hole tourney with a shotgun scramble start. Golfers have their choice of an 8 a.m. or 1 p.m. tee-off. “The 1 p.m. tee times are filling up quickly,” said Pat Myers, director of alumni relations and Foundation events, “so players may want to consider starting their day by teeing off at 8 a.m. with the birds and the rising sun.” Organizers ask that registration be completed by May 19. There are several ways to support the fund-raising tournament. One is to register to play golf at $75 per person or $300 for a team of four. That includes 18 holes of golf plus a cart, use of the driving range, snacks, lunch, goody bags and prizes. Another option is to become an event sponsor. Businesses can gain recognition by donating goody bag items such as tickets, restaurant or store gift certificates, getaway weekends or in-kind gifts of products or services. Money raised will serve as a resource for those who value learning. • Farragut High School’s annual baseball camp will be held from 9 a.m. to noon each day, Monday, June 5, to Thursday, June 8, at FHS’s John Heatherly Field. Registration is from 8:30 to 9 a.m. June 5 at the field. Cost is $75 per sessions, or $60 per session if more than one from a family participates. Campers will work on hitting, fielding, pitching, and play games. Instructors will be Farragut’s coaching staff and players, including FHS varsity head coach Tommy Pharr, who has led the Admirals to a pair of Class AAA state titles (2003 and 2004) plus three other state runner-up finishes (1999, 2001, 2002). • A high school age group baseball tournament is being formed featuring a four-team round-robin format at Knoxville Catholic High School May 26-28. Anyone with a team who is interested may call 865-603-5368 to sign up and/or obtain more information. Entry fee is $325.

• The Pilot Golf Classic will have a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m., Monday, June 12, at Gettysvue Country Club. Featuring a four-person scramble format, entry fees are $750 per foursome. Single entries will be paired by tournament committee. Entry fee includes a box lunch, a goodie bag and reception. Proceeds will benefit Knox Youth Sports and Executive Women International’s Scholarship Program. Contest will include a hole-in-one contest and various prizes to be awarded at the reception following the tournament at approximately 5:30 p.m., and will include the 19th Hole Awards Presentation.
