Bearden boys tennis looks for state berth today

Singles wins by Taylor Patrick, Chris Acker, Ben Rahnema and Ben Lanz provided a big cushion as Bearden whipped Oak Ridge 4-1 Thursday, May 11, to win the Region-2-AAA tennis title match and advance to today’s [Thursday’s] sectional showdown versus Science Hill.
With a 2:30 p.m. start at Tyson Park, Bearden looks to beat the Hilltoppers and earn a trip to the Class AAA state tournament next week in Murfreesboro. The BHS program won four straight Class AAA titles (1999-2002).
The Bulldogs [13-1 record] are led by junior No. 1 player Hunter Maltsberger and head coach Clint Cope.
