West Valley sweeps track titles

The 2006 KIL Middle School track and Field Finals held May 4 at Karns High School was a success for the girls and boys teams of West Valley Middle School, both winning the 2006 Middle School Championship.

Leading the Lady Wolves was eighth-grader Kylie Krieps, who won the 100-meter run (12.77 seconds), the 200 (26.74) and the long jump (14-feet-07).

Krieps also holds two AAU National records in the 55 meter indoor sprint, and was a member the 2001 National AAU Outdoor 4 x 100 gold medal team.

Other notables were the WVMS girls’ 4 x 800 relay, where Lauren Krause, Leslie Sayers, Jordan McMillan and Rebecca Stover took first-place.

Lily Winchester took second in the girls’ 800. The WVMS boys won the 4 x 800 with J.P. Burris, Patrick Harmony, Brian Westervelt, and Patrick Williams.

Cisco Carter placed third in both the boys’ 200 and 400 dash.
